Pre-release Speculation
Earthbound enables the player to magically root enemies in place by binding them to the ground beneath them. Any humanoid foes affected will be unable to move their legs or walk, essentially paralyzing them. Creatures may experience similar immobilization depending on their anatomy. Since afflicted enemies cannot physically pursue the player, this is useful for crowd control, staging ambushes, or escaping from combat. The area of effect for Earthbound is unclear but it seems capable of impacting multiple targets at once. However, airborne enemies would likely be unaffected by being grounded. The duration of Earthbound is unknown but appears long enough to capitalize on its incapacitating effects.
