Back to the Grind is the mission 1 of Ryujin Industries Mission.
Walkthrough
Upon hearing a job advertisement for Ryujin Industries while wandering the neon-lit streets of either Neon City in Neon Core or New Atlantis in the Commercial District, you decide to explore the opportunity. Locate the Ryujin Industries Kiosk to get the ball rolling; it's hard to miss, highlighted with bright holographic advertisements, all bustling with futuristic aesthetic.
Once you interact with the kiosk, you'll receive a mission called "Back to the Grind." Your first objective is to proceed to the UC Vigilance, which is floating next to Mars in the Sol System. Open your map and use the Grav Jump feature to reach the UC Vigilance. Upon arrival, you'll need to hail the ship and dock your starship—a series of intuitive button prompts should see you through this without issue.
Stepping out of your ship, you'll encounter a Sysdef Guard stationed near the entrance. Speak to him to ask for the whereabouts of Commander Ikande. The guard will then lead you through the labyrinthine corridors of the UC Vigilance, taking you to an elevator in the back left of the ship. Follow him into the elevator and select the Operations Center as your destination. The elevator hums quietly as it takes you to the Operations Center, where Commander Ikande awaits.
As you enter the Operations Center, approach Commander Ikande standing in the middle of the room filled with holo-screens and personnel buzzing about. A dialogue ensues where he briefs you on your mission to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet. Before you leave, he directs you to speak with Lieutenant Toft, who's standing to the right in the same room. Upon conversing with her, she hands over a decoy shipment of a material called Aurora.
With the decoy shipment in tow, open your map again and use the Grav Jump to reach Mars, specifically landing at a location called Cydonia. Upon landing, navigate through the dusty Martian streets until you see a sign for the Trade Authority. Inside, speak to Saoirse Bowden who is standing to the left in the lobby. Through a bit of persuasion, she'll agree to help you sell the shipment and gives you the name of someone who can assist you further, Adler Kemp.
To find Adler, leave the Trade Authority and head down a ramp, then make a right turn to get to a location called the Broken Spear. Adler is located here, and he'll present you with a task: to recover a debt from someone named Karl Fielding. Leave the Broken Spear and head to the Residential District of Cydonia. Following the marker, you'll find Karl sitting on the ground. You're given multiple options to deal with him—either persuade him to give you the money, pay off his debt yourself, or take a more aggressive approach.
After handling Karl's situation, return to Adler Kemp at the Broken Spear. Hand over the debt payment, and Adler will express his approval. He then tells you that if you're interested in this line of work, you should meet the Crimson Fleet's second-in-command, Naeva Mora. At this point, the mission concludes, rewarding you with 250 EXP and 4000 credits, along with unlocking the achievement "Back to the Grind."
And there you have it, the completion of your first Ryujin Industries Mission. The path is now set for you to proceed to the next mission, "One Step Ahead," diving deeper into the universe's tangled web of opportunities and threats.
Tips and Tricks
- You don't need to provide the best answers at the Kiosk or during the interview to get the job.
- If Sarah is with you and you decide to kill Tomo, she will not approve.
- You will get promoted to Junior Operative whether you tell Imogene the truth about Tomo or not.
Objectives
Apply for a Job at a Ryujin Industries Kiosk
- Use a Ryujin Industries Kiosk. You can find a Kiosk at Neon City in Neon Core or at New Atlantis in the Commercial District in near GalBank.
- Select Job Application and answer each question.
Travel to Neon on Volii Alpha in Volii System
- After filling out an application and qualifying for an interview, travel to Ryujin Tower in Neon on Volii Aplha in the Volii System to meet with Imogen Salzo on the Operations floor.
- If already in Neon, you can head left of the Kiosk, all the way to the end of the strip to get to Ryujin Tower.
Attend your Interview at Ryujin Tower
- Head to Ryujin Tower.
- Take the Elevator to the Operations floor.
(Optional Objective: Check in with Lane Garza)
- Talk to Lane Garza at the Reception desk.
- You can choose to have Lane walk you to Imogen's office or find it yourself.
Take a Seat
- Once you have arrived at Imogene's office, take a seat to begin the interview.
Complete your Interview
- Answer Imogene's questions.
Pick Up Coffee at Terrabrew
- You got the job! Your first order of business is to pick up coffee at the nearby Terrabrew. Head to the Elevator and take it back down to the Lobby.
- Head down the strip to the Terrabrew on the left.
- Speak to the Terrabrew Employee.
Deal with Tomo
- Tomo, a former Ryujin Industries employee who was recently fired, pulls out a gun and threatens to attack you for taking his job. You can either use Persuasion or Attack him to settle the matter.
Pick Up Coffee at Terrabrew
- After dealing with Tomo, speak to the Terrabrew Employee again to pick up the coffee order.
Talk to Imogene
- Head back to Ryujin Tower, take the elevator, and return to Imogen's office.
- Speak to Imogene. She asks what the hold up was. You can choose to tell her the truth or lie about Tomo. Either way, you get promoted to junior operative.
- Imogene instructs you to deliver the coffee to the executives in the conference room. Head to the conference room by taking the stairs on the right and entering through the door on your left.
Meet Alexis Pryce
- Speak to the head of the legal department, Alexis Pryce.
Meet Camden Cho
- Speak to the supply chain manager, Camden Cho.
Meet Genevieve Monohan
- Speak to the head of Marketing and Public Relations, Genevieve Monohan.
Meet Linden Calderi
- Speak to the Chief Financial Officer, Linden Calderi.
Talk to Imogene
- Speak to Imogene in her office. She tells you that they have reason to believe that CeltCorp was trying to hack into their server since they are both competing for a contract. She gives you a data slate and instructs you to upload a file to one of their computers. This sets you up for the next mission One Step Ahead.
